"Delay is natural to a writer. He is like a surfer—he bides his time. Waits for the perfect wave on which to ride in. He waits for the surge (of emotion? of strength? of courage?) that will carry him along." (E.B. White, The Paris Review Interviews, 1969)

aaah - there is some loveliness in ND. Despite the late season skeeters, it was a lovely hike. Now, if I could hibernate until late March...
Do you get much of a fall in ND? I've never lived anywhere that didn't switch from summer to winter more or less over a weekend. But I suppose everyone feels like autumn is too short, what with it being followed by winter and all...
It depends on the year. Because we have had a warm summer, it seems to be lingering. Of course, the hammer that waits on the other side of the fall makes it extra important to enjoy every minute of summer and fall.
