"Delay is natural to a writer. He is like a surfer—he bides his time. Waits for the perfect wave on which to ride in. He waits for the surge (of emotion? of strength? of courage?) that will carry him along." (E.B. White, The Paris Review Interviews, 1969)

MIT's "Fab Lab"
MIT is closing out year five in their five-year NSF "Fab Lab" iniative. Great idea--which if you don't know about it, is a worldwide effort to bring inventing to the masses. It's about distributed and sustainable invention and innovation. From India to Costa Rica to Ghana (and even Boston!). They are clearly making a media push for more effort, but I would like to see these folks work with marketing and communications experts to get this worthy effort out in front of people who might be able to help. It isn't a corporate push (the inventions aren't focused upon any corporate, or even "productive" mindset). Instead, the spirit is really one of distributed imagining. If anyone knows if they are soliciting small donations, let me know.
